Enhanced automation and quality set this model apart from its predecessor, the S7 series.
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra makes a bold promise: "Forget cleaning - really!" and it does a good job living up to that.
This robot cleaner is packed with top-notch features, with the Ultra Station being the star. ⭐️
This handy station does four things for you:
- Cleans the mop
- Dries the mop
- Empties the mobile dust tank
- Refills the water tank
Essentially, it makes daily cleaning mostly hands-off. ✋🏻
It's evident that the makers have taken the best parts of their older models and added some neat improvements.
Highlights include a new way to dry the mop, an improved brush system, better obstacle detection, and two mop settings for a thorough clean.
This model feels more like a polished version of the previous ones rather than a brand-new invention.
During our tests, its wiping function worked extremely well. 🧽
Its strong suction was commendable too.
The device also showcased good navigation skills, especially in obstacle detection.
On the downside, its side brush could be better on carpets and edges, and the use of throwaway dust bags seems a bit old-fashioned.
Plus, it's on the pricier side. 🤑
So, if you're after the latest in robot cleaning and don't mind the cost, this is a great pick.
But if you're looking to save a bit, considering the slightly older S7 series might be a good idea.

Best alternatives
Good mopping ability, excellent cleaning performance on laminate and carpet, independent obstacle avoidance, self-emptying station, mop rinsing station - The S7 MaxV Ultra comes with everything a pet household needs.
The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is the perfect addition to your household pets.
The cleaning performance of the robot vacuum cleaner convinced us in our tests. Dog hair, cat hair and other animal hair are no problem for the S7 MaxV Ultra.
One highlight is certainly the vibrating mop.
The vibrations simulate "scrubbing movements", which means that even more stubborn stains of all kinds (water stains or paw prints) can be removed even more reliably. 🐾
Another highlight that makes the robot vacuum cleaner well-suited for use in a pet household is the Ultra Station. This fulfils several purposes at once:
- The mop is rinsed during cleaning (at regular intervals). Advantage: Your floors are much cleaner because the mop is always fresh. Pet mess is therefore not dragged from room to room.
- The mobile dust container is emptied automatically. Advantage: You do not have to empty the mobile dust bin by hand.
Furthermore, the Roborock S7 MaxV is equipped with the advanced Reactive AI technology. This enables the robot vacuum cleaner to recognise and avoid obstacles independently.
The interaction of the HD camera and artificial intelligence is responsible for this.
This means that Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra can clean the floor even in a home that is not 100% tidy, without immediately getting stuck on the next dog toy. 🏐
In addition, the HD camera can even be used as a surveillance camera. The live images can be viewed directly in the app.
If your furry little friend gets separation anxiety or misbehaves when alone, this camera opens up a whole world of possibilities for you.
This way you can check on your pet while you are out and about.
If your four-legged friend has made himself comfortable on the bed without permission, you can even communicate with him via the voice output. 🗣️ 🐕
The main brush is designed so that hardly any hair can wrap around it.
Sure, the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is in another playing field in terms of price.
For the money, however, you get an extraordinary high-tech device with a wealth of great functions that make the robot vacuum cleaner perfect for pet hair and for other special requirements of a pet owner.

Numerous premium features leave nothing to be desired with this Ecovacs model. 🎉
At first glance, you immediately notice the robot’s unique and attractive design. 👀
Top features of the Deebot X1 OMNI
But it's not just the look of the premium vacuum mopping robot that is impressive. The Ecovacs Deebot X1 OMNI is packed with top features:
- Emptying station
- Rotating mopping pads
- Washing station for the mop cloths
- Obstacle detection
- Integrated voice assistant ("Ok Yiko")
- …and more!
However, the numerous functions come at a price: this luxury robot is certainly not for bargain hunters... 💸
Mopping ability
The Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni has many highlights. One of them is its mopping capabilities. 💧
Let’s have a look at the role the station plays in the cleaning process.
After a predetermined interval (10, 15 or 25 minutes), the two mopping pads are wrung out and rinsed at the station.
The benefit here is that your floors are always cleaned with freshly rinsed mops. The collected dirt ends up in the dirty water tank (and not on your floors).
Furthermore, the mobile water tank is refilled at the multifunction station.
So you are spared this (annoying) task as well.
The two mopping pads rotate in opposite directions, creating a "scrubbing effect". This results in a more thorough cleaning of your home. 🧼
And don't forget: when the job is done, the two pads are blown dry at the station (with hot air). 🍃
All these functions together mean that the wet floor cleaning process runs almost completely independently, so you can sit back and relax. 🏖️
And the mopping performance also impressed us. 👇
(Even if stubborn, dried-in stains take a bit more effort).
The combination of an impressive mopping ability and a huge range of other premium features makes the Deebot X1 a compelling option.
Although that’s only if you have the necessary funds: because the price will set you back a bit... 💸
Advantages:
Greatly improved mopping ability |
|
Mopping pads are automatically wrung out, rinsed and dried at the station |
|
Water tank is refilled automatically |
|
Auto-empty station |
|
Elegant design by Jacob Jensen |
|
Gently skirts furniture (hardly any collisions) |
|
Obstacle detection (also of flat objects) |
|
Can detect objects even in poor lighting conditions |
|
Floor cleaning (vacuuming and mopping) is mostly automatic |
|
Integrated voice assistant ("Ok Yiko") |
|
Quick mapping |
|
Security features (surveillance camera) |
|
2-way video calls possible |
|
Quiet |
|
Mobile phone app with many functions |
Disadvantages:
Very expensive |
|
Emptying station uses disposable bags |
|
Station is beautifully designed, but quite large (not everyone's cup of tea) |
|
AIVI 3D obstacle detection sometimes causes difficulties with navigation |
|
Individual features are sometimes not perfectly coordinated |
|
App has minor bugs |

What do I need to consider when buying a robot vacuum for pet hair?
To avoid making the wrong decision, you need to know a few things before buying a robot vacuum cleaner for dog hair and other pet hair.
A robotic vacuum should be able to remove pet hair if it wanders around a household with pets.
However, we also take a close look at other critical criteria that make living with your four-legged friend much easier.
Here is an overview of the essential facts:
- Requirement: The model must be an overall good robot vacuum cleaner
- How good is the suction power?
- How often do you have to maintain and clean the brushes (side brush and main brush) ?
- How big is the dust container?
- Do you need an self-emptying station?
- Does the robot vacuum have an integrated mopping function?
- Does the robot vacuum have a HEPA filter?
- How good is the cleaning along the ledges and in corners?
- Can you define no-go zones (virtual walls / boundaries)?
- What’s the volume of the robot vacuum?
- Do you want your Robot Vacuum Cleaner to detect and avoid obstacles automatically?
- What’s the price-performance ratio like?
In the following, we will go into the individual points in more detail.
The requirements: The model must be an all-round good robotic vacuum cleaner!
For the category "Best Robotic Vacuum for Pet Hair", we only consider excellent robot vacuum cleaner models that could handle the challenges pets give them.
A "good robotic vacuum cleaner" must meet particular requirements. These include: Strong suction on hardwood floors and carpets (low-pile carpets and medium-pile carpets), clear and practical mobile app, good navigation, long battery runtime, low noise level and good price-performance ratio.
Let's be honest: What's the point of having a smart vacuum cleaner robot that removes all dog and other animal hair...
..but can’t clean up the rest of the dirt in the flat?
That wouldn’t help much.
As a pet owner, you have special requirements for your robot vacuum.
We’ll get more into detail about that in the following.
Strong suction power
A robot vacuum cleaner for pet hair must have a strong suction power.
That might be self-understanding for most. But especially with pets, excellent suction performance is even more important.
And that both on hardwood floors and carpets.
Because pets don't just lose a lot of hair, they also bring all kinds of dirt into the flat.
That’s why you have to be able to rely on the robotic vacuum.
Make sure that the appliance has several power settings.
Maintenance of the brush
Robot vacuums usually don’t have any problems with hairs. Dog hairs are very light, so the vacuum can pick them up and remove them at ease.
However, Pet hair (especially long hair) can wrap around the brushes (side brushes and main brush).
That happens to almost all tested robotic vacuum cleaners (exception: iRobot Roomba i7).
Then why not just leave out the brush?
That wouldn’t make much sense.
The brush usually consists of bristle hairs and lamellae. The brush’s texture and rotation ensure that it picks up all the dirt from the floor.
Only an excellent main brush can lead to good cleaning results on hard floors and carpets.
But how can you remove hair from the brush?
It’s not the end of the world if a few long hairs get wrapped around the brush.
The robot vacuum can still clean your home as usual.
At some point, however, you’ll have to remove the long hair.
When buying your robot vacuum cleaner, you should make sure that you can remove the brush and disassemble it at the sides. That’s where many long hairs get stuck.
You can use conventional scissors to remove the stuck hairs.
Many manufacturers in the UK offer a more convenient solution for this. They put a unique cleaning tool under the lid.
This cleaning tool is designed extra for hair removal.
You can remove the long animal and human hair quickly and reliably with it.
Some manufacturers realised that this is a common problem and offer unique solutions.
- Some manufacturers include a special attachment - without the brush - in the delivery scope. It prevents dog hair, cat hair etc. from wrapping around the brush. You won’t have to clean the brush anymore, but the cleaning result is much worse without the combi-brush.
- iRobot takes a different approach with its models. Instead of using one brush made of slats and bristles, the US manufacturer uses two plastic brushes that rotate in opposite directions.
The significant advantage: long hairs can’t get stuck here. If a few dog hairs get caught on the sides, you can simply pull them out again without much effort.
Size of the mobile dust bin
We all know this too well: You've just cleaned the flat, and the floor is already dirty again.
It doesn’t take long until the robot vacuum’s dust bin is full.
Pet hair takes up a massive amount of space.
Therefore, it’s better to have a large dust container.
Self-emptying dust bin
Especially if you have many big, hairy dogs at home, a robot vacuum reaches its limits quite fast.
The mobile dirt container fills up relatively quickly if the vacuum collects all that dog hair.
This means that you have to empty the dust bin by hand every day.
But there’s a solution at hand for this problem: a self-emptying dust bin.
And that’s how it works: Once the robot vacuum returns to the charging dock, a special device empties the mobile dust container. It stores the dirt in a separate dust bag in the self-emptying base.
You have to change the dust bag in the auto-emptying dustbin every few months or so.
This makes your daily cleaning much easier and more automated.
Does the robot vacuum cleaner have a mopping function?
Robot vacuum cleaners with a mopping function have a significant advantage: they can vacuum and wipe in one go.
Therefore, it’s no surprise that the so-called 2-in-1 hybrid robot vacuum/mop are so popular.
You can target specific areas to remove paw prints and water stains from your four-legged friend.
However, we have to point out that even if they continuously improve the hybrid models’ mopping performance, it can’t replace mopping by hand yet.
Nevertheless, the wiping function removes light stains, small bits of dirt and dust residues and thus ensures a tad more cleanliness in your home.
A tip: Pay attention to the size of the water tank. The larger the water tank, the more living space the vacuum can mop in one go.
Does the robot vacuum cleaner have a HEPA filter?
We strongly recommend that you ensure that your robot vacuum for pet hair has a HEPA filter.
Especially as a pet owner, you know all about the countless types of dirt that our pets take into the home every day.
It’s not enough if the robot vacuum sucks up the coarse dirt only and leaves the smaller and invisible dirt behind (such as allergens, fine dust and pollen).
Luckily, there’s the HEPA filter.
It removes even the smallest dirt particles from the airflow before it gets back into the room.
How good is the cleaning of ledges and corners?
Many pet hairs accumulate along the ledges and in corners.
Therefore, the robot vacuum should achieve good cleaning results in these hard-to-reach areas.
Cleaning along the ledges:
The robot vacuum must have side brushes to achieve good results when cleaning along the ledges.
The robot vacuum moves very close to the bar so that the side brush can reach the dirt there and transport it to the suction opening.
Corner cleaning:
Robot vacuums usually have a round shape.
Therefore, it’s physically impossible to remove 100% of the dirt in corners.
Nevertheless, the robotic vacuum cleaners have a good cleaning performance here, too.
The side brush can’t reach only a small area very deep in the corner.
Therefore, it’s not a big issue.
The Roborock S5 Max cleans our flat every day, too. This means that almost no dirt accumulates in the corners. We only have to vacuum the corners once a month with a conventional upright vacuum (more information here: cordless vacuum review). That's all it takes.
D-shaped vacuum robots achieve somewhat better results when cleaning corners. Neato Robotics (f. e. Neato Botvac d7) has some interesting models of this kind. However, even these can’t deliver 100% satisfactory results.
However, the "D-shaped" vacuum robots have numerous weaknesses in other categories, which is why we wouldn’t recommend buying a "D-shaped" model.
Virtual Walls / No-go zones
If you share the flat with pets, there’ll always be areas where the robot vacuum shouldn’t clean.
Therefore, it’s very convenient if you can quickly define no-go zones in the mobile app.
Volume
Not just people aren’t fond of noisy vacuums.
Our four-legged friends have very sensitive hearing. Loud noises can frighten pets.
Therefore, you should choose a robot vacuum that is as quiet as possible.
The volume of a robot vacuum cleaner is usually 50-65 dB.
You can control most models’ suction power via the mobile phone app.
Automatic obstacle detection
If you have several pets at home, you’re undoubtedly familiar with this problem: There are always objects lying around. You can't keep up with cleaning up.
However, it can become a big problem for robot vacuums if the flat is untidy.
The robot vacuum could get stuck on objects that are lying around, such as dog toys. Then you have to rush to help and free your little household helper so it can continue cleaning.
In other words, laser navigation (Lidar) isn’t the best solution here.
Instead, the “Artificial intelligence" is here to save the day.
This way, the robot vacuum identifies an object as an obstacle and bypass it.
The Deebot OZMO T8 AIVI, the Roborock S6 MaxV or the Deebot OZMO T8+ already use this modern technology.
Even though the technology doesn’t have 100% accuracy yet, it’s still beneficial for large households with several dogs.
Price-performance ratio:
Your new robot vacuum will accompany you and your pet for many years to make your life easier.
Therefore, we strongly recommend looking for an excellent price-performance ratio when buying a new robot vacuum for pet hair.
Many people make a mistake looking for the cheapest offer available and making huge compromises on the functions.
We want to spare you from making such a mislead purchase decision with this guide.
You should always consider the purchase of your robot vacuum for pet hair as a well-thought-out investment.
Is the robot vacuum also suitable for long human hair?
Whether it’s human hair, dog hair or cat hair - the robot vacuum doesn’t make a big difference in it.
The difference between human hair and pet hair is that human hair is usually much longer.
Therefore, long hairs may wrap around the main brush of the robot vacuum more often.
If several women with long hair live in the flat, you’ll have to free the brush from the long hair more often.
Tips and tricks for even more cleanliness in a pet household
Here we want to show you a few tips and tricks so that living with your four-legged friend and a robot vacuum cleaner works even better ?.
Accustom your pet very slowly to the new robotic vacuum cleaner
Anything that moves and makes a sound will attract your pet's attention.
We recommend demonstrating the robotic vacuum to your pet before it starts its first cleaning trip.
Then your pet can slowly get used to the new device.
When the time has come, you should set the robot vacuum to the lowest suction and noise level so that your pet doesn’t get scared.
You should always stay close by during the first few rides and observe how your four-legged friend behaves. If it acts weird, you should immediately take corrective action.
Once your dog has identified the robot vacuum as his playmate, it’s much more difficult to get that out of the pet’s head again.
And you can probably imagine how that can turn out for the vacuum robot... ?
Regular fur care
This may be obvious, but it’s fundamental.
How can you avoid excess pet hair in the home?
That's right: you don't let it get there in the first place.
You can find more tips and tricks on dog grooming here.
Let your robot vacuum clean the flat more often
With a pet, there also comes a duty of cleaning the home more often.
You have to clean the floor more often than usual. There is no getting around.
But that's the reason why you got a robot vacuum, right?
The robot vacuum can clean your home several times a day if necessary. He indeed doesn’t have a problem with that.
Use the scheduling function / timer function:
You can easily set up a weekly cleaning schedule via the mobile app.
Especially with a pet, regular cleaning is essential.
Once the dirt has sunk deep into the carpet, it’s tough to remove it again. Pet hair also won’t have a chance of spreading in the entire flat when you clean the floor daily.
Ledges and especially corners magically attract hair. However, the robot vacuum has a hard time cleaning the corner due to its (usually) round shape. Daily vacuuming prevents hair from accumulating in corners and along the ledges.
It leads to more cleanliness in your home if you clean the floor every day.
And all that without having to raise a finger. What a great feeling!
Clean the main brush and side brushes regularly
You can’t avoid long dog hair or even human hair wrapping around the main brush and side brush.
But that’s not the end of the world.
However, if more and more hairs wrap themselves around the brush, the cleaning performance will eventually get worse.
And that’s not good.
Most manufacturers include the appropriate cleaning tool directly in the delivery scope.
You can remove the hair quickly and without any problems with the help of this special cleaning tool.
You could also use conventional scissors.
The process is straightforward and takes only 3-5 minutes.
Advantages of a robot vacuum for dog and other pet hair
Especially if you have pets at home, a suitable robot vacuum brings numerous advantages to it. Dog hair and other pet hair won’t stand a chance in your home.
Automated cleaning saves a lot of time and effort!
We all know this too well: You've just cleaned the flat, and the floor is already dirty again.
Once again, you have to fetch the vacuum and start vacuuming.
From now on, the robot vacuum will do all the dirty work - literally. All you have to do is press the "Start" button.
The little household helper cleans the flat reliably, and you won’t have to raise a finger (okay, maybe one to press the button ? ).
That saves a lot of time, effort and trouble. In the meantime, you can spend your time with the beautiful things in life.
Vacuuming is usually not one of them ?.
Regular cleaning ensures more cleanliness
In the past, you might have put off cleaning your home from time to time. But as the proud owner of a robot vacuum, this won’t happen anymore.
You don’t have to fetch the stick vacuum to get rid of annoying dog hair (or cat hair, etc.). You just have to press the start button in the app.
The result: It vacuums the flat much more regularly. Pet hair and other dirt won’t accumulate in the corners (or on carpets) anymore.
Your flat will always have lovely basic cleanliness.
Good for allergy sufferers
Especially allergy sufferers have big problems with pets. It’s almost impossible to get rid of all the dirt that our four-legged friends bring in.
If you have allergies, a robot vacuum cleaner makes living with pets much easier.
It’ll clean your flat much more often.
Most robotic vacuum cleaners also use HEPA filters, which remove dust from the air before it flows back into the room.
If you have severe allergic reactions, you should consider buying a robot vacuum with a mopping function or even an emptying station.
These are very convenient for allergy sufferers and can make living with pets even more effortless.
Where do the robot vacuums still have room for improvement?
Nobody (or rather nothing) is perfect. Not even your robot vacuum for dog hair.
Therefore, we’ll talk about the robot vacuum’s features that still have room for improvement.
Larger mobile dust container
The mobile dust container of a robot vacuum cleaner usually has a capacity of 350 - 550 ml. That’s relatively small.
Manufacturers are doing their best and try to increase the mobile dust container’s capacity of the latest models all the time.
However, since the robot vacuum should be as flat and slim as possible (so that it can also vacuum under your couch), it’s quite challenging.
Therefore, you shouldn’t expect a massive improvement in the mobile dust container’s size unless you can tolerate a significantly larger robot vacuum in your home.
We don't want that ?.
But that’s not the only possible solution. The manufacturers provide an excellent alternative, which is the "automatic emptying station".
It empties the mobile dust container automatically at the charging station whenever the battery is charged.
Cleaning in corners
Most robot vacuums that work well for pet hair have a round shape.
The round shape has many advantages: Good manoeuvrability, flat design, etc.
One of the few disadvantages here is that it can’t clean the corners 100 % satisfactorily.
The robot vacuum can’t reach all the dirt in the corner (e.g. pet hair, dust, etc.) due to its shape.
But that’s no biggie.
Since a robot vacuum cleans your home at least every second day, hardly any dirt accumulates in the corners.
You have to clean the corners every few weeks with a conventional cordless vacuum. That's all.
Best Robot Vacuum Cleaner for Pet Hair in the UK - Our conclusion
Pets in the household are quite challenging in terms of cleaning. There’ll be much more dirt on the floor. Especially pet hair can bring a lot of trouble with it.
You have to fetch the vacuum almost every day and put in a lot of effort to keep the floor clean.
Robot vacuums for pet hair take that burden off your shoulders.
They reliably remove any dirt that your four-legged friend brings in (and also all the long hairs).
You’ll only have to clean the brushes, vacuum the corners with a handheld vacuum every few weeks, and empty the mobile dust container.
You can get an excellent robot vacuum for dog hair at a fair price, which brings you incredible comfort and life quality.
We’ve used a robot vacuum in our pet household for quite some time now. It saves so much time and effort, and we don't want to miss it anymore.
