Dyson brought the suction performance of its V-series to the next level with the V11. On top of that, they also equipped it with innovative technology, a practical display and an exchangeable battery.
The latest model from Dyson is also the best. Dyson UK continuously improves its devices, and the most recent model from 2020 has a surprise in stock for us.
Now you can click out the battery of the device and put in a charged one. You can double up the runtime with a few simple steps.
Tops of the Dyson V11
Battery Life
The battery life is about 60 minutes, which is the best runtime among Dyson's cordless vacuums. It should be more than enough for most households.
You can even extend or double the runtime thanks to the click system.
New and Smart
Dyson equipped the V11 with a practical LCD screen. The display helps to monitor the device and shows useful information.
Intelligent Adjustment of Suction Power
The new Dyson V11 recognises the surface and adjusts the suction power accordingly. That improves the cleaning performance and prolongs the battery life, as it saves battery power.
Exceptional Suction Power
The V11 brought the most powerful suction to the table of all the devices that we tested. The suction power was so strong that we removed more dirt from the carpet than we had spread.
The suction power of the 2020 model is even at 220 AW in boost mode.

Which Dyson V11 from 2020 is the best?
There are currently 3 variants of Dyson V11 from 2020 on the market:
- Dyson V11 Extra
- Dyson V11 Extra Pro and
- Dyson V11 Extra +
- Dyson V11 Outsize
The difference between the first three is only in the delivery scope.
Attention: Please always compare the current prices, as Dyson often changes the offers.
The Dyson V11 Outsize
However, the Outsize has a couple of innovations in stock:
As the name suggests, it has a different size. The dirt container has a capacity of 1.2 l, which is almost 500 ml larger than before.
The floor brush is also 25 % wider.
Thanks to these features, you’ll be done much faster if you clean with the Outsize ☺ It’s also particularly suitable for larger areas.
Which Dyson V11 is your best choice?
We recommend the Dyson V11 Absolute
- For all those who have to vacuum a lot of hard floors because it includes the soft floor nozzle. That cleaner head does a great job when cleaning hard floors.
- For all those who have many different floor types because the Absolute Extra’s Torque-Drive floor nozzle of the V11 comes in very handy here.
Only the Extra Pro has even more features, like the docking station for storage. But YOU have to dig a little deeper into your pocket for that.

The Dreame V11 could not only convince with its outstanding suction power. Despite the low price, the Dreame V11 comes with an innovative display and extra accessories. Among them are useful gadgets that help to free your couch from pet hair.
Strong Suction Power
The strong suction power is atypical for appliances in this price range. However, the suction power is important when cleaning pet and dog hair. That’s why we chose to introduce the Dreame V11 as an affordable alternative.
When we tested the Dreame V11’s cleaning performance, we found out that it worked great on hard floors. The Dreame cordless vacuum cleaner really doesn’t have to hide behind the competition.
The Display
Another atypical feature for this price range is a display. Until now, very few cordless vacuums have this feature and it’s therefore almost like a unique selling point of the Dreame.
The Accessories
The accessories are very extensive and it amazes us that Dreame includes a mini electric brush here.
The Mini Electric Brush
It is very easy to use and reliably vacuums pet hair from the couch or from the dog box in the car.
The Standard Electric Brush
The standard brush is a so-called soft roller. It works very well on hard floors. On carpeted floors it worked surprisingly well, too.
Nevertheless, we would have liked an optimal solution for carpets.
After all, hardly any hair wraps around the soft roller. So you don't have to worry too much about that.
For carpeted floors, we would have liked to see a different option.
Maintenance
The workmanship is good and maintenancing the Dreame V11 is simple and uncomplicated.
The Filter
You can easily remove and beat out the filter, and changing it isn’t difficult either, even if it is not really necessary.
Cleaning the Roller
The roller can be removed easily, so you can remove any hair and other dirt from it.
Battery Power
Unfortunately, the battery cannot be removed, but the runtime is pretty strong with 45 minutes in medium mode.
Emptying
Emptying the dirt container works well, but sometimes you may have to help a little by hand.
Price-Performance Ratio
The cordless vacuum will help you free your home from your pets' hair.
All in all, the Dreame V11 is definitely a good purchase and a top device for its price.
Comparing Cleaning Performance
At Smart-Home-Fox, we put all devices through a standardised cleaning performance test.
We check exactly how well each cordless vacuum gets rid of dirt on different floor types (various carpets and hard floors).
Each device also has to clean up different kinds of dirt.
In total, we conduct 9 cleaning tests in addition to our everyday life-test. For this last part we track how well a device performs over a longer period of time.

You can find more details in the Dyson V11 Absolute review and the Dreame V11 review.
Comparing cleaning results on hard floors
Here the two vacuums were almost on par. Both cordless vacuums left almost no dirt behind and performed very well.
You could say that hard floors are the Dreame V11's speciality. The soft roller that comes with it (instead of the standard floor nozzle) makes all the difference here.
The Dyson V11 performs better on hard floors but is not as good as on carpets.
To cut the Dyson some slack, we did use its standard brush (= carpet brush that also works on hard floors).
When we attached the included soft roller, the Dyson V11 left the floor spotless.
Comparison of cleaning performance on low carpet
The short carpet is no real challenge for the Dyson. It sucked up everything - lentils, sand, oats - flawlessly.
The Dreame didn’t have any problems with lentils, but it reached its limits with sand and our oat flakes. We had to vacuum it three times until the job was fully done.
It’s not a big deal to be fair, but it takes a little more time.
Cleaning test on long carpet: Dyson V11 vs Dreame V11
The combination of sand and high carpet...
...that's a nightmare for many cordless vacuum cleaners. But the Dyson V11 hardly reaches its limits here. It even removed more dirt than we had spread on the carpet. An outstanding result!
It was a slightly different story with the oatmeal. The Dyson got such a strong suction that it got stuck on the carpet. The oatmeal couldn’t fit directly through the opening of the brush.
But that’s no biggie: simply choose a less powerful suction level and off you go. Now the Dyson can also seamlessly remove oatmeal.
The Dreame V11’s result on long carpet was similar to the performance on short carpet.
There’s some room for improvement here, too.
It’s probably because the Dreame doesn’t have a floor brush specifically for carpets, it’s only got a soft roller.
Conclusion of the cleaning test
The king of cordless vacuums easily defends its throne in this category.
Even though the cleaning result of the Dreame V11 is decent, it cannot compete with the Dyson V11 here.
Differences in Design: Dyson V11 Absolute vs Dreame V11
Dyson has always put much emphasis on the design...
...and the appearance of the Dyson V11 is also top-notch - as usual.
The motor unit and the dirt container are positioned vertically, which is a considerable advantage when emptying the Dyson V11.
The Dreame V11 looks like an old Dyson model.
The motor unit and the dirt container are horizontal.
All in all, the appearance is a matter of taste.
It’s up to you whether you prefer Dreame’s retro look or Dyson’s futuristic look.
From our point of view, the workmanship of both devices is excellent.
The devices have a high-quality feel during the use. You can easily attach accessories, and their mechanisms work very well, too.
Comparing the Displays
Both devices come with a practical display.
While Dyson relies on LCD technology here, Dreame has installed an OLED display.

Size and Weight in Comparison
The size of the two devices differs by about 10 cm (4 inches).
Amazingly, you hardly notice this when vacuuming. Both devices adapt perfectly to body size when cleaning.
The weight of the Dyson V11 and the Dreame V11 is also similar. The market leader weighs 3.05 kg (6.7 lbs), and the Dreame weighs 2.9 kg (6.4 lbs).

What accessories do these vacuums bring to the table?
Here the Dyson V11 Absolute vs Dreame V11 enter the next round.
Without doubt: accessories are essential when buying a (battery) vacuum.
But which one of these two offers the best accessories?

The Dyson V11 Absolute is very well thought out. All the attachments are practical and useful.
We particularly like the fact that the Dyson V11 Absolute has two rollers for cleaning the floor.
The Floor Brushes
The Torque-Drive from Dyson is an all-round brush. The soft roller is particularly suitable for cleaning hard floors.
Your advantage: The torque drive automatically adapts to the ground. This technology is unique.
The Dreame V11, on the other hand, only comes with a soft roller. It’s a shame, and we can’t understand why it’s just one.
The Mini Electric Brush
It’s included in both devices. It works very well when removing pet hair or other dirt from upholstered furniture.
Your advantage: dog and cat hair can’t stand a chance on your upholstery anymore.
.
The Crevice Nozzle
The Dreame engineers came up with a real innovation here.
The crevice nozzle of the Dreame is a multitool which you can use with or without bristles. You can simply pull back the bristles to clean more sensitive surfaces.
Conclusion on Accessories
Both devices come with lots of useful accessories. The torque drive is an advantage for the Dyson V11.
Nevertheless, the manufacturer of the Dreame includes a lot of accessories into the delivery scope, even though it’s got such a low price.
Comparing Cleaning Features
Cleaning features, cleaning functions...
...what’s that even supposed to be?
The cleaning performance of cordless vacuums depends on many factors.
Attention: Manufacturers often try to implement that strong suction power (Watt or Airwatt) alone is sufficient for good cleaning performance.
But that’s wrong!
Many factors affect the cleaning result. We took a closer look at a couple of factors:
The Cleaning Brush
An important cleaning feature is the floor brush. That’s the attachment you choose to clean the floor.
It’s become a standard that this brush is now electric with every manufacturer in the UK.
It rotates relatively fast and flings the dirt into the suction pipe.
The Standard Brush of the Dreame V11
Dreame’s got a soft roller.
It does a great job when vacuuming hard floors such as laminate or parquet.
On carpet, however, this attachment reaches its limits.
Dyson V11’s Standard Brush: Torque Drive
That’s a real game-changer of the Dyson V11. The Dyson UK engineers have developed the so-called Dyson DLS system (Dynamic Load Sensor).
The brush always adapts to the floor and regulates the suction force independently thanks to this system.
Your advantage: You no longer have to adjust or even change the attachment for cleaning different floor types.
Suction Levels in Comparison
Another vital factor for the cleaning performance is the number of suction levels.
Suction levels of the Dreame V11
The Dreame V11 comes with three different suction levels:
- Eco
- Mid
- Turbo
The manufacturer states that the Dreame achieves an impressive 150 air watts in turbo mode. This is an excellent performance on the same level as that of the Dyson V10, the predecessor of the Dyson V11.
The suction levels of the Dyson V11
The Dyson V11 also has three suction levels:
- Eco
- Med (automatic)
- Boost
In the automatic mode, you can vacuum at ease. But you can also choose the mode yourself. This expands the possibilities.
In Boost mode, the Dyson reaches 185 air watts. You’ll notice that when you vacuum. That’s the strongest suction power of a cordless vacuum cleaner we have tested so far.
Your advantage: With the Dyson V11 you can do a deep-cleanse.
What’s the handling like?
Commissioning
It doesn't matter whether it's Dyson V11 or Dreame V11:
Everybody likes to unwrap a nice package.
Both packages include exciting accessories, and they got many surprises in stock for you.
We’re giving a bonus regarding sustainability for Dyson's packaging.
Advantage: Dyson doesn’t use environmentally harmful plastic in the packaging of the V11.
Commissioning is quite simple with both devices. It’s self-explanatory!
You just have to choose the right accessories, and off you go.
Manoeuvrability
The floor rollers are connected to the suction tube by a joint which improves the cordless vacuums’ manoeuvrability.
The joint works great on both cordless vacuums and improves their mobility enormously.
Nevertheless, this point goes to the Dyson V11, because it simply moves better over the floor.
Dreame uses some kind of small padding that get caught sometimes.
Dyson, on the other hand, relies on several small rollers that simply work better.
Thanks to the additional roller at the back of the soft roller, the Dyson glides smoothly over the floor.
The workmanship is more sophisticated and of higher quality.
Power Button
That’s a popular topic among the few Dyson critics.
You can’t lock the pistol-like trigger on any Dyson device...
...they didn’t change that in the V11.
Your advantage: It should extend the battery life.
That way, you only activate the vacuum cleaner when you are actually vacuuming!
With Dreame V11, on the other hand, you can easily lock and release the power button.
Your advantage: The locking function is convenient for longer vacuuming.
It's hard to decide who gets the point here. But Dyson’s strategy to extend the battery runtime seems to work out.
The 2-in-1 function: conversion into cordless hand vacuums
One of the most significant advantages of the Dreame V11 and Dyson V11 is their 2-in-1 function.
The 2-in-1 function allows you to convert your cordless vacuum into a cordless hand vacuum.
Your advantage: That increases the application possibilities enormously.
You can easily convert both the Dyson and the Dreame within a few seconds.
The Dyson is a little heavier, but it's still great for vacuuming the car or cleaning pet hair from your upholstery with the mini electric brush.
The handling of the Dreame as a cordless hand vacuum cleaner is also excellent.
The Battery Life of the Dreame V11 vs Dyson V11
Battery life is an important criterion.
After all, whether you can vacuum your flat in one go or have to load it in between depends solely on the battery runtime.
That's why we compared the battery life of the Dyson V11 vs Dreame V11.
The battery life of both competitors is extraordinary.
Dyson V11 | Dreame V11 | |
Suction mode | Duration in minutes | Duration in minutes |
Eco | 70 | 90 |
Mild | 55 | 45 |
Boost | 8 | 12 |
Check Amazon* | Offer* | Offer* |
The runtime in medium mode matters the most. Because we normally use this mode most in everyday life.
The Eco mode is relatively weak, and the Boost or Turbo mode is extremely powerful in both devices... One could say it’s like cracking a nut with a sledgehammer ☺.
Dyson has an outstanding performance with 55 minutes, and Dreame’s 45 minutes are also great.
Sound Check
You can't make an omelette without breaking eggs, and you can't vacuum without a noise.
Neither Dyson nor Dreame can change that yet.
However, we measured a little over 70 dB with both cordless vacuums. You could compare that volume with the volume of a washing machine...
...so it’s bearable.
Dyson V11 Absolute vs Dreame V11: Maintenance
Both the Dyson V11 Absolute and the Dreame V11 have different strengths and weaknesses regarding their maintenance.
When it comes to maintaining cordless vacuum cleaners, we are particularly interested in the following points:
- Emptying and cleaning the dirt container
- Maintenance or cleaning of the HEPA filter
- Changing the battery
Emptying the Dirt Container
It’s crucial how you can empty the dirt container of a cordless vacuum cleaner.
How much dirt ends up in the trash? How much dirt sneaks back into your apartment and therefore also into your air? That depends entirely on the emptying process.
Especially allergy sufferers should pay attention to the emptying function when buying a cordless vacuum cleaner. That’s where you can separate the wheat from the chaff.
The motor and dust container’s vertical arrangement on the Dyson V11 is a real revolution in the emptying process.
You can push the dirt out of the container with the help of a slider on the bottom side.
It works very well, and all the dirt ends up in the bucket.
This feature makes the Dyson V11 particularly suitable for allergy sufferers.
The Dreame V11 caught us off-guard when we emptied it. The mechanism for opening and closing the container is of high quality and works perfectly.
Simply hold it over the trash and press the button. The dirt will fall out.
However, if something gets caught between the filter and the wall, you have clean it by hand.
How to clean the dirt container
You can remove the dirt container of the Dyson V11 with a push of a button. Then you can wash it and use it again once it's dry.
Unfortunately, this does not work with the Dreame, because the container is not removable.
You have to clean it with a cloth and/or a brush.
The Maintenance and Cleaning of the HEPA filter
It’s easy peasy to clean the filter of both devices.
Both manufacturers use long-lasting HEPA filters (High-Efficiency Particulate Air filters).
Your advantages: Long-lasting filters are good for the environment and save a lot of money.
You can easily unscrew the filters and tap them out.
If a filter breaks or becomes too dirty, you can buy replacement filters for little money.
The Maintenance of the Battery
Battery maintenance is also a widespread issue with cordless vacuums.
Premium devices such as the Dyson V11 Absolute now have a click-in function for the battery. You can remove the battery with a simple push of a button and replace it with a fully charged one.
The charging time of Dyson V11 Absolute vs Dreame V11
The charging time for the Dyson V11 is 4.5 hours. Especially if you have two batteries for the Dyson V11, the charging time doesn’t really matter.
The Dreame V11 has a charging time of about 4 hours, which is insignificantly shorter than that of the Dyson V11.
Your advantage: The replaceable battery doubles the battery runtime with a flick of the wrist.
The technology of the Dreame V11 is not quite as advanced yet. Unfortunately, you can’t replace its battery.
Note: This also means that you have to send the device in if the battery breaks.
Dyson V11 Absolute vs Dreame V11 Comparison: Price-Performance and Conclusion
Dyson V11 vs Dreame V11: Aaaaaaand the winner is: Dyson V11, easily.
You need to know why the price of the Dyson V11 is almost twice as much as that of the Dreame V11.
But that's probably one of the main reasons why you're reading this article!
You can buy our test winner, the Dyson V11 Absolute, with premium quality and all its advantages, and the price will be probably a higher.
The big advantage of the Dreame V11, you guessed it: the lower price...
Long story short: Quality has its price, and investing in the Dyson V11 Absolute is "absolutely" worth it.
The Dyson V11 Absolute clearly won the race against the Dreame V11.
The best cleaning result, a high-quality finish and absolute user-friendliness impressed us. Dyson is our winner.
Nevertheless, the Dreame V11 also has a lot to offer. We recommend the device if you don't want to dig too deep into your pocket.
But you’ll have to make a few cuts compared to the Dyson V11.
Either way, your flat will be bright and shiny ☀️
