Dyson V11 Absolute (Extra) Review UK

What’s probably most interesting to you regarding the Dyson V11 Absolute is, of course, how good the cleaning and suction performance is.

We gave the new cordless vacuum cleaner quite a dirty challenge and checked how it’s dealing with it.

We spread dirt in the form of lentils, sand and oatmeal on hard floors, short-pile and long-pile carpets and then cleaned it with the automatic suction level.

The overall result was really impressive, but see for yourself:

Cleaning on Hard Floor (Laminated)

On hard floors, the V11 has no problems removing the dirt, even if a bit of sand was left behind the first time I vacuumed over it, the Dyson did its job very well. The second time I vacuumed over it, there was no sand left.

The other types of dirt the Dyson V11 has easily sucked up.

We then repeated the test at maximum level. The entire sand was sucked up immediately.

Cleaning on Short Pile Carpet

The V11 literally left nothing behind on the short-pile carpet. That had never happened in any of our tests before, chapeau!

Well, not so much for the Dyson V11 Absolute. It masters this task with flying colors and impresses us - once again - with its suction performance.

Everyday Cleaning Performance

We also tested the vacuum cleaner in our (family) everyday life. Besides the long battery life, the suction power caught our attention as well.

The Dyson v11 was able to suck out a considerable amount of dust on our long-pile carpet in the living room. And that even after we had already vacuumed the carpet with an older device from Dyson.

That was quite impressive and shows us that it really has reached a new level in cleaning performance.

The prices of Dyson’s cordless vacuum cleaners vary mainly according to what’s included in the delivery. That’s often the point where people get confused.

Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered and will now take a closer look at the Dyson V11 Absolute's scope of delivery and the included accessories.

Basically, the cordless vacuum cleaner is available in two variants:

• Dyson V11 Absolute Extra

• Dyson V11 Animal Extra

What are the individual attachments for?

Each of the included attachments and gadgets has its own function and qualification. We paid some extra attention to these functions while testing the Dyson v11.

Both models basically come with the same accessories, but the Dyson V11 Absolute additionally has a "Quick Release Extra-hard Brush".

However, the main difference in the included accessories is that the V11 Animal Extra comes with the "direct drive electric brush" that you probably know from previous models like the Dyson V10.

But Dyson added a new extra to Dyson V11 cordless vacuum cleaner as well: the Torque-Drive roller that automatically adjusts its suction power to the surface.

The new roller automatically adjusts the suction power to the surface and is therefore suitable for all floor types.

That’s how the Dyson V11 Torque Drive helps to optimize the battery performance and you’ll have even more comfort, because you won’t have to change the roller while vacuuming anymore.

The red nylon brush of the roller goes deep into carpet fibers and cleans the carpet. The black carbon fibers help remove very fine dust from hard floors.

Combination Attachment Nozzle

This brush comes in very handy when vacuuming furniture, books or pictures.

It’s also very versatile and efficient, because you can easily pull back the brush with a simple grip and then vacuum only with the hard plastic end.

Suction Tube

The suction tube is made of thin metal and has a practical plastic plug connection. You can connect any of the included attachments to this connector.

The suction tube is mainly used for vacuuming floors with the torque drive, but you can also use it to extend your handheld vacuum cleaner. This makes it possible for you to vacuum e.g. behind cabinets or remove cobwebs from the ceiling.

Crevice Tool

This is a classic vacuum cleaner attachment that is great for cleaning gaps and clefts between car seats or the couch.

Dyson Mini Electric Brush

This brush is especially helpful when you want to clean the upholstery from pet hair and dirt.

Quick Release Extra-Soft Brush

This dusting brush has very soft bristles and is very suitable for cleaning objects with sensitive surfaces.

Quick Release Extra-Hard Brush

This new brush has much harder bristles that are also further apart. With this you can scrub off coarse dirt, e.g. from tiled floors. But be careful that you don’t cause scratches with this one.

Electric Brush with Soft Roller

This roller is popular from the Dyson V10 and also from older models. It works especially well when cleaning hard floors.

But now that the torque drive adjusts automatically, the good old soft roller probably won’t be of much use anymore.

Storage and Charging Station

This one’s a super handy tool for the Dyson vacuum cleaner. With this docking station, you can hang the V11 on the wall so that it’s out of your way and recharges at the same time. Some of the accessories can also be attached to it, but, unfortunately, not all of them.

Accessories Holder for the Suction Tube

With the practical holder the accessories can be attached to the suction tube and are thus more quickly at hand during vacuuming.

Charger

Of course, the matching power supply unit for charging the cordless vacuum cleaner is also included.

Of course, the Dyson V11 Absolute also comes with the proven dual-tier radial cyclone system developed by Dyson, just like its predecessors.

During the process, 14 cyclones generate a centrifugal force of more than 79,000 G and transport dirt particles, pollen and bacteria into a container.

Dyson UK also achieves a big improvement in suction performance with its new V11 model thanks to the new cleaner head, the Torque-Drive floor nozzle.

The ultimate main cleaning brush of the new Dyson V11 Absolute is the Torque-Drive floor nozzle. According to the manufacturer, it’s suitable for all floor types.

In our test we were able to prove that this is really the case. Either way, the Torque Drive is a real step-up.

For cleaning cabinets, the couch or the car, the device can be converted into a powerful Dyson V11 handheld vacuum cleaner in just a few steps.

Depending on the model, different suction attachments are included in the scope of delivery.

The robot vacuum can clean your home at regular intervals and pick up the everyday dirt, so you barely have to do anything.

For coarse dirt and the dirt that is accumulated in hard-to-reach places, e.g. when the kids drop down everything at dinner, you don’t have to put in much effort, simply take the battery vacuum cleaner, which is ready for use within seconds.

Once again, Dyson UK has focused on user-friendliness. Maintaining the Dyson V11 is very simple and basically consists of the following three options:

• The emptying and cleaning of the dirt container.

• Cleaning the HEPA Filter and

• Changing the battery.

The Emptying of the Dirt Container

Emptying the dirt container is very simple. All you have to do is push the lower red lever forward. Then the container pops open, the dirt will be pushed out and will fall directly into the dustbin can.

This works very well and most of the time no residues remain in the container.

But be careful, it is best to open the container outside, because the dust that is sucked up will be stirred up when emptying.

Cleaning the container is also pretty simple. You can remove the plexiglass container with one grip and rinse it out.

The Cleaning of the Dyson V11 HEPA Filter

The Dyson V11 Hepa filter can be easily untwisted at the back to be removed. This should be cleaned regularly with cold water.

Changing the Battery

The battery of the Dyson should actually last as long as the vacuum cleaner itself - that's what the manufacturer promises.

If this is not the case, the battery can be easily replaced thanks to the new click-in function, as you are probably used to from a cordless drill or something like that.

These replacement batteries are available in Dyson stores or on the website in the UK.

In the end of our review, the question remains: Is it a good price-performance ratio and is it worth buying a Dyson V11 cordless vacuum cleaner?

After we’ve thrown all possible challenges at the Dyson V11, we can tell you: Yes, it’s worth buying!

The Dyson V11 has reached a new level with the LCD screen compared to its predecessors of the v-series. The operation is simply more practical. In addition, the new cleaning mode, in combination with the torque drive, has really thrown us off our guards. The roller now adapts to the floor surface and we no longer have to actively change the attachment whenever the surface changes.

The suction performance was already very good in the predecessor V10 and it’s still on a top level.

The Dyson lasts 10 years and more. During this time you don’t need to buy bags, filters or batteries. Looking at it like this, the price is amortized over time.

So if you're looking for a high-quality, powerful cordless vacuum cleaner that has great mileage, is super user-friendly, and is well thought through down to the last detail, the Dyson V11 Absolute is the best vacuum cleaner on the market.

As they say: "If you buy cheap, you buy twice!” it's worth digging deeper into your pocket for a device that is used as often as a cordless vacuum cleaner.
