The slimmed-down version of the Dyson V15 impressed us in our review with strong suction power, top cleaning performance, lighter weight and a lockable power button! 🙌
The Dyson V12 Slim has a lot to offer.
Cleaning performance
Although Dyson has cut back on the suction power, the V12 still packs 150 airwatts. This brings it close to the power of its predecessor - the Dyson V10.
The cutback didn’t get in the way of the hoover in our cleaning test.
Whether on carpet or hard floor, the cordless Dyson vacuum left hardly any dirt behind.
Handy and compact in design
Quite a bit smaller than the V15, it feels much more compact when held.
This becomes especially noticeable when using it as a handheld vacuum.
Vacuuming furniture and the ceiling with only one hand? No problem!
Illuminated Cleaner Head: Laser dirt detection for advanced cleaning
A new, updated nozzle specially designed for hard floors:
The Illuminated cleaner head.
Such a practical innovation! 🚀
The lockable power button
The first V-series cordless vacuum cleaner with a lockable power button.
Many of you will be thinking: finally!
Press it once and the V12 runs until the battery is empty or until you press it again.
Conclusion on the Dyson V12 Slim
A really high-quality and powerful product with many practical innovations. 🚂
We recommend the V12 Slim for small to medium-sized homes in particular, and, of course, for all Dyson fans who have always wanted a cordless vacuum cleaner with a lockable button (made by Dyson). 😉

The Dyson V15 has a whopping 230 air watts, which is the most powerful suction we have ever seen.

What is a cordless Vacuum for cars?
Whether you live alone, have children or pets, one thing is for sure: the car always gets dirty. Chunks of dirt, crumbs and dust settle on the dashboards and seats. It’s particularly stubborn in the floor mats.
You have to clean it regularly.
Our tip: Use a cordless car vacuum for this!
The battery-powered devices are versatile in use and you can take them anywhere.
No more tedious cable... no more searching for sockets outdoors...
...no dirty cars anymore!
The cordless devices make cleaning much more straightforward and save a lot of time and effort.
We present three different variants in our review of the best car vacuums with batteries.
Who could use Car Vacuums best?
First of all, of course, all proud car owners can get their money’s worth here.
If you're looking for an easy and quick solution to clean your car regularly, you've come to the right place.
Read our review to see which car vacuum cleaner fits best to your needs and how you can have fun and make the most of your investment.
What Types of Car Vacuums are Available in the UK?
The first question you should ask yourself is: What kind of car vacuum do I want?
You can choose between the following three types:
- A 2-in-1 cordless vacuum for the car
- A cordless hand vacuum
- Car vacuums with cables (with power supply in the car)
The 2-in-1 cordless Vacuum for the Car
The 2-in-1 battery vacuums for cleaning the car become more and more popular and are the luxury class among car vacuums.
They convince with powerful suction and excellent cleaning results in the test and work better than the paid devices at the car wash.
You can convert the modern vacuums from a cordless stick vacuum into a handheld vacuum in no time.
They do a great job when cleaning floors, vacuuming furniture, removing pet hair from upholstery and even vacuuming your car. The devices have many advantages!
You’re curious what they might be?...
...Today’s your lucky day! We’ll show you what advantages they have.
The delivery scope often also includes handy attachments for all possible occasions.
The battery life of the 2-in-1 systems is the longest. They have decent batteries, thanks to the good size of the device. The batteries ensure runtimes of up to 90 minutes.
The charging times are approx. 4-5 hours.
All in all, they are the perfect solution for all cleaning tasks in your house and car. Of course, this luxury has its price.

The Car Vacuum with Rechargeable Battery
The hand vacuums are the mid-range cars among the car vacuums.
They’re always at hand and very practical, thanks to the rechargeable battery.
You can take these devices to your car for cleaning, too.
They are much cheaper, but also have some minor drawbacks.
You can't vacuum your floor with it and the performance is weaker than that of the 2-in-1 devices.
The dirt containers are also smaller (0.2 - 0.3 litres) and the runtime is only 20 to 30 minutes.
But nevertheless, if you don’t want to dig that deep into your pocket for the 2-in-1 vacuum, these devices are the way to go.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Handheld Vacuums for the Car at a Glance

The Car Vacuums (with Power Supply in the Car)
Some manufacturers developed vacuum models specifically for cleaning the car.
These devices are particularly small so that you can put them in the car if not in use.
A practical feature here is that you can plug it in directly in the car, e.g. to the cigarette lighter, thanks to a special mains connection.
These devices are also pretty cheap.
If we look at the suction and cleaning performance, it’s a rather small car among car vacuums.
The suction power isn’t that strong so that most of them can only remove light dirt.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Car Vacuums (with Cables) at a Glance
Advantages | Disadvantages |
|
|
Conclusion
We can recommend the car vacuums with cable to a limited extent only.
We've picked out the best´ here, but the low price equals the quality.
We really only recommend these devices if you have a low budget and are in desperate need of a car vacuum cleaner. Or if you always want to leave the device in the car.
If you really only want to remove light to medium dirt in your car, a relatively cheap cordless hand vacuum would also do the job.
All in all, we recommend killing two birds with one stone!
Get a 2-in-1 cordless vacuum and enjoy all the benefits.
Then, you can also get rid of your dusty old corded vacuum cleaner with expensive bags and tangled cables.
What else should I consider when buying a Cordless Car Vacuum?
Which Accessories are Useful for Car Cleaning?
The accessories are an important criterion when buying a car vacuum cleaner.
We’ll show the Essential (Car Vacuum) Accessories here:
The Crevice Tool
This cleaning head comes in very handy when you want to get into narrow crevices and spots - Between the seats or between the seat and the dashboard, for example...
...those endlessly dark holes... that no one can reach... but that’s where crumbs accumulate like crazy and create their small biotopes from time to time.
The Multi-Tool
Also often called a combination attachment, and it lives up to its name.
If you push the bristles forward, you can use them to remove dust from your dashboard - without causing any scratches.
You can remove even stubborn dirt if you pull back the bristles. You can literally scratch dirt off with it.
Attention: Do not use the hard end on sensitive surfaces.
The Mini Electric Brush
This cleaner head is a real highlight!
It’s only included in the delivery scope of some 2-in-1 vacuum cleaners.
This self-rotating mini-nozzle is perfect for removing dirt from car seats or floor mats.
The Flexible Hose
This attachment is also quite rare - very few manufacturers include that in the delivery scope so far.
We also had a hard time with it for a while. But we finally got the hang of it during the cleaning test in the car:
The flex hose is super practical here. You can vacuum much better with it if you don’t have much room.
What Should my Car Vacuum be Capable of?
Our cars get dirty at regular intervals.
The chunks of dirt and the road dust on the shoes get into the legroom.
Children leave crumbs on the seats and the dogs shed hair that stubbornly sticks to the upholstery.
And on top of that, there’s so much dust that accumulates on the dashboard.
Dirt can’t stand a chance if you have a powerful vacuum.
But beware that you can only remove coarse dirt, such as mud residues, with powerful suction.
The different attachments are game-changing if you want to clean different areas in the car (seats, legroom, dashboards).
The Versatility of a Car Vacuum
The vacuum cleaner’s versatility determines whether you can vacuum every spot in the car.
If the vacuum is too bulky, you can't get everywhere. If the cable is too short or you don't have the right accessories, you’ll have annoying difficulties.
Therefore, make sure that your new cordless vacuum is not too big and that it comes with useful accessories.
We can assure you that all the devices we tested are suitable for every car.
The Dirt Container or Bag
Bagless or with a Bag?
Manufacturers are getting more and more creative when it comes to the dirt container (also called dust box). That’s why the vacuum cleaners often differ here.
The older models come with a bag that causes follow-up costs and isn’t eco-friendly either.
That's why we recommend vacuums that are bagless. You can quickly empty the dirt into the dustbin and protect the environment at the same time. You also save a lot of money.
Size and Emptying Function
Size does matter!
If the dust container is too small, you have to empty it constantly. That’s annoying and also takes time.
However, if the container is too large, you can’t handle it well and won’t help when cleaning the car, either.
Dust containers with a capacity of 0.5 - 0.8 litre have the perfect ratio. You don’t have to empty them that often and they are still handy!
The emptying function is also quite interesting. There are very good solutions, especially for cordless vacuums.
Dyson has developed a very clever system, for example.
It works very well and hardly any dirt gets back into the room. It's also very suitable for allergy sufferers.
Car vacuum maintenance
How Often Should I Clean the Car Vacuum?
You should maintain and clean the vacuum approx. once a month.
How do I Maintain my Car Vacuum?
Maintenance of car vacuums includes these tasks:
- Cleaning the dust container
- Cleaning the nozzles
- Cleaning the filter
Cleaning the Dust Container
You can easily remove and wash the container with good units.
If you can’t remove the container, you have to use a cloth or brush to clean it.
Cleaning the Nozzles
If you use a mini electric brush, you have to remove hair and threads regularly.
Otherwise, you can clean all other attachments under running water if necessary.
Cleaning the Filters
It’s very important to clean the filters. You should do that regularly, too, because the cleaning performance suffers enormously if the filters are clogged.
You can wash some filters, and you have to tap out others.
How much does a Car Vacuum cost?
You can get the cheapest car vacuums for as little as £30 to £100. These are low-power devices for very light dirt.
The battery-powered handheld vacuums are available for £100 to £250. The performance is better here, but the range of applications is quite limited.
You can get decent cordless vacuums with the 2-in-1 function for approx. £300 - £350 and more. You get quality and maximum use (versatility) for this price.
Purchase Price vs. Follow-up Costs
Cordless vacuums with 2-in-1 function may seem expensive at first glance, since their prices are relatively high.
In the long run, however, you will save money with these devices and get your money’s worth.
Why would you save money here?
...You don't need to buy bags or filters anymore. Most devices come with long-lasting filters and with the dust containers (as mentioned above), instead of bags.
That’ll save a lot of money.
You also won’t have to use the expensive vacuums at the car wash anymore.
You also save money, effort and valuable time if you pay attention to quality when buying. My grandma used to say: If you buy cheap, you buy twice...at least!
Cleaning Tips for your Car
How can I Clean my Car with a Vacuum?
If the car is dirty, you have to start cleaning. If you wait too long, you won’t feel comfortable in the car anymore and it may even smell unpleasant.
The car vacuum with or without battery comes in very handy when cleaning the car.
You should do the following steps before using your device:
#1 Check the battery charge (for the vacuum with battery). Nothing’s more annoying than having to interrupt cleaning because the battery is dead.
#2 Tidy up the car. Remove everything you don't need in the car so that the compartments are free and you can vacuum them later.
#3 Take out the floor mats and tap them out. This way, you can remove the most dirt beforehand.
#4 Then you can vacuum the floor mats with the handy mini electric brush.
You can clean your car even in the trickiest places with a powerful 2-in-1 cordless vacuum.
#5 Now you can also vacuum the legroom. The mini electric brush is also suitable for the surfaces. The crevice nozzle is perfect for cleaning corners and crevices.
#6 The mini electric also works great for vacuuming the boot.
#7 You can use the soft bristles of the combination nozzle for cleaning the dashboards.
Best Cordless Vacuums for Cars - UK: Conclusion
At the end of our comparison of cordless car vacuums we can say: Yes! To have one is very usefull.
We already told you: 60% clean their car at least once a month!
So it’s worth having the right tool at hand.
A car vacuum makes cleaning your vehicle much more manageable.
You don’t have to rely on car washes anymore... No more waiting in front of public vacuums!
The attachments come in very handy in many different situations.
You should pay attention to quality when buying and not save money in the wrong place. Only a high-quality car vacuum can save trouble.
