In advance, even though the Outsize pulls quite a bit more Airwatt (AW) out of the hat:

Both vacuums were absolutely top class in the cleaning test.

For the cleaning test, we spread different dirt (lentils, fine sand and porous oat flakes) on different floor types (long hair carpet, short pile carpet, laminate). Then we vacuumed it up again in automatic mode.

Both the Dyson V11 Absolute and the Dyson V11 Outsize sucked up almost everything we gave them.

In Boost mode, we were briefly afraid that the Outsize would suck up our carpet.

In short, no dirt has turned up in our daily lives that the Dysons haven't managed, despite children and pets.

In our comparison, we have the V11 Outsize vs the V11 Absolute Extra.

Basically, the accessories for these two are compatible. However, not everything is included in the scope of delivery for both devices.

A difference in torque drive

The standard floor nozzle, called the torque drive, is the only accessory that is different on the Outsize than on the Absolute.

The torque drive XL of the Outsize is 25 % larger than that of the Absolute. Of course, this means you can clean large areas correspondingly faster.

The Suction Pipe

The suction tube of the cordless vacuum from Dyson is robust and comes in a chic metallic look.

The Fluffy Attachment

If you mainly have to clean hard floors, make sure that this attachment is included in the delivery.

The hard brush is extremely stiff and good for removing dirt from a robust surface. It is not suitable for delicate surfaces.

Spare Battery

The spare battery easily doubles your working time. While you are vacuuming, you can simply click the battery onto the wall mount and it charges. Of course, even without the motor unit.

The replacement battery is only included with the more expensive version of the V11 Absolute (Dyson V11 Absolute Extra Pro).

But don't panic, you can also buy this accessory online.

The Charging Dock

The charging dock is also only included with the Absolute Extra Pro.

It is basically a stand on which you can store your teat upright.

Your advantage: You can simply put it somewhere else if it bothers you at some point.

The classic wall mount, on the other hand, is permanently installed.

Only with a certain amount of effort can you mount them in a different place (drilling holes, etc.).

The Dyson V11 Outsize and the Dyson V11 Absolute both have the great advantage of coming with a 2 in 1 function.

This means that both devices can be used as cordless vacuums to clean the floor. On the other hand, they can also be converted in a flash and used as a cordless hand vacuum.

Very practical!

To increase flexibility, all the accessories supplied fit both on the suction tube and directly on the motor unit.

We regularly use the cordless hand vacuum variant to:

How heavy are the devices as cordless hand vacuums?

Comfortable vacuuming with a hand-held vacuum cleaner depends decisively on the weight.

We found the Dyson V11 Absolute, weighing around 2 kg (2.1 kg without attachment = ~4.6 lbs), very comfortable. The device is compact and easy to handle in hand vacuum mode.

It looked a bit different with the Outsize.

In our opinion, the additional 500 grams (1.1 lbs) (2.6 kg (5.7 lbs) in total) are quite noticeable.

When sucking on the ceiling, this can be strenuous for the arms over a longer period of time.

The device was also too bulky for cleaning in confined spaces, such as the footwell of the car.

Your advantage: That's probably why Dyson includes the practical flexible hose. You can use it to compensate for this deficit.

Conclusion on the hand vacuum mode

When comparing the handheld vacuum mode of Dyson V11 Absolute Extra vs Dyson V11 Outsize

the point clearly goes to the V11 Absolute.

It is simply better suited as a cordless hand vacuum because of its size and weight.

Nevertheless, the outsize is not to be despised here. Clever solutions, such as the flex hose or the joint attachment, can partially compensate for weight and size.

Our decibel scale showed approximately equal values for the two Dysons.

The cordless vacuum cannot be described as quiet. In boost mode, it gets about as loud as a washing machine. But the noise that is produced is not unpleasant.

You just notice that work is being done ?

The volume in comparison

The same maintenance tasks apply to both units:

• Emptying the dirt tank

• Cleaning the dirt tank

• Cleaning the HEPA filter

• Cleaning the floor nozzles

Emptying the Dirt Tank

Emptying works great with both devices. Simply hold it over the waste bin and press the slider down...

.... The lid pops open and the dirt falls into the bin.

If something gets stuck there, the sliding mechanism ensures that the dirt is pushed out.

This works really well and the dirt lands pretty much where you aim it.

This mechanism makes the Dyson V11 (whether Absolute or Outsize) a good device for allergy sufferers.

Nevertheless, it is always best to empty the vacuum cleaner outside. Then you can be sure that the fine dust does not find its way back into the flat.

Your advantage: If you opt for the Outsize, you will have to empty the device less often. The larger dust box makes itself felt here.

Cleaning the Dirt Tank

Cleaning the dirt container is also very easy to handle.

Simply press the small button on the underside and the dust container can be removed.

You can then wash it out under running water or just wipe it out.

Cleaning the HEPA filter

The HEPA filter (HEPA filter) ensures that even the smallest particles are filtered out of the air.

To maintain the full performance of your machine, the filter should be washed out at regular intervals.

Just twist it off at the back and you can wash it out.

The filter is very durable and does not actually need to be changed. This saves money and protects the environment.
